Total forest carbon storage stands at 7.4 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent, with annual sequestration exceeding 100,000 tonnes in post-1989 forests. Participation in the Emissions Trading Scheme has generated nearly $51 million in carbon credit sales since 2010, providing direct support for New Zealand's zero carbon objectives.
Our sustainable management approach maintains carbon storage while providing timber products. With balanced age-class distribution and sustainable harvest levels, our forests contribute to long-term climate stability while meeting New Zealand's timber needs.
