Wangaloa Creek Wetland (24.9 hectares)

  • Habitat diversity: Four habitat types and three wetland classes
  • Protection success: Surrounding plantation forest provides exceptional protection
  • Pristine condition: Annual monitoring confirms outstanding ecological health

Shepherd Stream - Eldon's Galaxias Protection

  • Species protection: Habitat for 'Nationally Endangered' Eldon's galaxias
  • Active management: Brown trout removal to protect native fish populations
  • Barrier maintenance: Natural waterfalls and raised culverts protect critical habitat
  • Population enhancement: Working toward reintroduction to expand species range
