We maintain 2,400+ hectares of permanent native forest reserves, representing approximately 10% of our total land area:
- Mature native forests: Protecting remnant indigenous vegetation
- Regenerating native areas: Supporting natural ecosystem recovery
- Wetland protection: Safeguarding high-value wetland ecosystems
- Species-specific habitat: Dedicated areas for rare, threatened, and endangered species

Two areas designated as Category 1 High Conservation Value under FSC® standards:
Wangaloa Creek Wetland (24.9 hectares)
- Conservation significance: 'Acutely Threatened' and 'Chronically Threatened' vegetation
- Habitat diversity: Four habitat types and three wetland classes
- Protection success: Surrounding plantation forest provides exceptional protection
- Pristine condition: Annual monitoring confirms outstanding ecological health
Shepherd Stream - Eldon's Galaxias Protection
- Species protection: Habitat for 'Nationally Endangered' Eldon's galaxias
- Active management: Brown trout removal to protect native fish populations
- Barrier maintenance: Natural waterfalls and raised culverts protect critical habitat
- Population enhancement: Working toward reintroduction to expand species range
