FSC® Certification Leadership
The Forest Stewardship Council® is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests.
FSC® certification provides a credible link between responsible production and consumption of forest products, enabling consumers and businesses to make purchasing decisions that benefit people and the environment, as well as providing ongoing business value. The FSC® label ensures that the forest products used are from responsibly harvested and verified sources.
City Forests was one of the first major South Island forest owners to achieve Forest Stewardship Council® certification, reflecting our commitment to biodiversity protection through 2,400 hectares of maintained native forest reserves and ecosystem services such as water quality protection, soil conservation, and carbon sequestration.
We also deliver community benefits through recreation access, employment, and social contribution, while safeguarding ecological health with continuous environmental monitoring.
Long-term Sustainability Commitment
Our management practices ensure sustainable harvest levels maintaining forest productivity in perpetuity while contributing to New Zealand's carbon reduction objectives, protecting rare, threatened and endangered species, maintaining ecosystem health and water quality, and supporting community recreational and cultural use.
